Youth in Big Brothers Big Sisters Programs Show Improvements in Academic, Behavioral and Socio-Emotional Outcomes
The first Big Brothers Big Sisters Youth Outcomes Report shows statistically significant improvements for youth during the first year of enrollment in the organization’s mentoring program.

NEW DATA SHOWS MENTORING AS A PROVEN TOOL TO HELP COMBAT CHALLENGES FOR DISCONNECTED YOUTH
Big Brothers Big Sisters of America and Mayor Bloomberg’s Office Release Groundbreaking Data
WASHINGTON, D.C.– The second annual National Mentoring Summit, hosted by MENTOR, Big Brothers Big Sisters of America, the Corporation for National and Community Service, the Harvard School of Public Health, The Office of Juvenile and Justice Prevention and United Way Worldwide, on January 24, provided the backdrop for outstanding data linking mentoring to positive academic, socio-emotional and behavioral outcomes for youth who face adversity.
The inaugural Honoring Our Mentors gala, a celebration of National Mentoring Month, was held at Lowe Mill Arts and Entertainment on Thursday, January 19, 2012 and was an extremely successful event. There were over 150 people in attendance and 21 local sponsors for the event. Presenting sponsors for Honoring Our Mentors were Crestwood Medical Center, DealNews.com and GATR Technologies.
